Job Description:

The Associate Director of Advancement, College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP), is responsible for assisting in the implementation of a broad range of fundraising and alumni affairs activities for the college, focused primarily on mid-level to major gifts. Reporting dually to the Dean and Executive Director of Advancement, the incumbent will serve as the chief fundraiser for the college. The incumbent is responsible for developing and executing the college's fundraising program to fulfill the financial needs as identified by the Dean and in alignment with the strategic initiatives of the University of Florida Advancement (UFA). He or she will serve as a strategic partner with the college and UFA ensuring conformity with the central fundraising efforts and the overall university development and alumni programs and goals, and in promoting a culture of philanthropy by broadening constituents' understanding of the value of giving.


Development



+ Assists in directing and developing a fundraising program for the College of Public Health and Health Professions


+ Responsible for the overall management of fundraising identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of mid-level to major gift prospects, and corporate and foundation prospects, with focus on gifts at the $50,000 level and above


+ Manages annual giving and special gift mass marketing, targeted marketing and pinpoint marketing programs to increase dollars, donor participation and average gifts


+ Builds a portfolio of fundraising prospects and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits to bring solicitations to closure


+ Serves as an advisor to the Dean and the faculty on fundraising programs


+ Provides individual faculty members guidance in editing and reviewing proposals


+ This position requires significant travel by automobile; maintaining an acceptable driving record that meets insurance requirements and an active Florida driver license must be maintained in order to meet this function.



Strategic Engagement



+ Develops support for the program by effectively involving stakeholders, such as volunteers, staff, and members of the PHHP leadership board, in efforts supporting the fundraising program


+ Creates a structured process for the identification, recruitment, evaluation, recognition, and replacement of volunteers to strengthen fundraising effectiveness


+ In partnership with the Conference Event Planner II, coordinates special events for donors, alumni and friends; which includes fall alumni reunion, leadership board meeting and dinner, VIP and donor lunches and dinners, campus visits and tours with the dean, and meetings and initiatives that promote the engagement of PHHP constituents


+ Understands and articulates the unique contributions of PHHP faculty in education, research, and service.

Coordinate stewardship reports and activities for assigned prospects with appropriate members of the administration and faculty



Strategic Communications



+ In coordination with the director of communications, develops and implement a comprehensive communications plan to inform constituents and identified markets about the mission, vision, and values of the college, its funding priorities, and gift opportunities


+ Develops and presents proposals, and acknowledges and recognize gifts in ways that are meaningful to donors and appropriate to the mission, vision and values of the college and UFA



Program Development and Leadership



+ Effectively manages the unit's advancement office including: ensures best practices in office systems, practices, files and record keeping


+ Provides leadership, counsel on matters relating to fundraising, and accountability. Establishes goals in alignment with unit objectives, developing metrics and strategic planning


+ Ensures effective use of strategic tools and resources such as contact reports, prospect management, research, and analysis, and the Advance database


+ Plans and monitors the budget, using resources for best results in fundraising and planning activities involving volunteers, prospects, faculty and administration.










Advertised Salary:

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.



Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of relevant experience.



Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:



+ Three to four years of fundraising experience with proven success soliciting gifts or related experience strongly preferred


+ Prior experience in annual and/or mid-level giving, marketing and communications


+ Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university, and the desire to work collegially within a goal-oriented fundraising organization


+ Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards


+ Expertise in developing solicitation strategies


+ The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers


+ Ability to work collaboratively and a team player


+ Competency in problem solving


+ Excellent oral/ written communications and interpersonal skills; effective time management and organizational skills that are essential for success in this position


+ Working knowledge in these areas: Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, WWW browsers, preferably Internet Explorer, E-mail. Working knowledge of a donor database, contact management and tracking system


+ The ability and willingness to travel. A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.
