### Responsibilities
The incumbent will be assigned to the Insect Behavior and Biocontrol Research Unit (IBBRU), located at the USDA-ARS Center for Medical, Agricultural and Veterinary Entomology (CMAVE), Gainesville, FL. The incumbent will conduct molecular and genomic studies of the endosymbiotic bacterium, Wolbachia, from various insect orders to identify genes associated with disruption of host cell meiotic processes. The research will focus primarily on the arthropod endosymbiotic bacterium Wolbachia and use molecular and genomic approaches to 1) establish transinfected insect cell lines; 2) develop a transposon based system for mutagenesis of Wolbachia genome; and 3) establish Wolbachia transinfected moth strains for development of sterile insect release.

* A Ph.D. is required that was obtained within the last four years
* Appropriations Law and Immigration Law requirements must be met

### Qualifications
This position requires a recent Ph.D in Molecular Biology or Microbiology or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Applicants must meet basic Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirements of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
