Job Description:

Direct the Design Phase of all Major Campus Projects

Attends all major project design meetings and counsels PDC Project Managers through the design process. Guides the development of the architectural aesthetic of the campus. Assists on minor projects as needed. Helps project managers and end users in critical decision making during the design process and reviews changes during construction.

Assist in Space Planning, Program Development and Development of Conceptual Budgets

Works with Planning and the Space team to develop and review floor plans, reviews and develops space programs and development budgets

Direct the Selection of Professional Consultants

Leads the selection process for architects, engineers and other design professionals. Creates Request For Qualifications (RFQ), manages selection committees, maintains professional relations with outside consultants.

Contract Management

Negotiates architectural service contracts for specific and continuing services. Reviews and approves Additional Service Authorizations. Creates and maintains historical data for fee management.

Develop and Maintain Standards

Develops and updates Campus Design Guidelines. Ensure compliance with design and other University standards.

Ensures Compliance with Campus Master Plans

Works closely with PDC Planning Department to ensure compliance with planning initiatives

Represent the University

Make presentations to Boards and other university constituents, represent the university publicly on all related matters

A criminal background will be conducted.

Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and eight years of relevant experience.

Architecture License

Preferred Qualifications:


- Strong Design background with good knowledge of architectural history. LEED accredited professional


- Seven years of professional experience in the practice of architecture as principal, plus experience in an educational setting. Work experience and knowledge in Landscape architecture and Urban Planning


- Knowledge of building systems, control systems, operating environments and commissioning process.


- Effective verbal, written and graphic presentation skills
